The chess club at The Ohio State University was proud to host IM Goran Vojinovic on January 21, 2009 for a lecture and simul. The evening began with a lecture in which Goran went over a game between Gata Kamsky and Utut Andianto that was played in Amsterdam August 29, 1996. This game featured the Caro-Kann opening and Goran's insight and analysis of this game was extremely educational and enjoyable. His teaching style is unique and easy to follow whether you are a class E player or a Class A player.
After the lecture Goran played a simultaneous match against 30 players from the greater Columbus area. I think what was obvious about Goran was how much he enjoys chess and that he plays chess for fun and not prestige or his ego. He is a true gentleman and we are so glad we got to know him. As you can see by the photo below, we turned Goran into a Buckeye Fan and he is now a member of the Buckeye Nation!
We would like to thank Goran for taking the time to stop by our chess club and get to know the greater Columbus, Ohio chess community. Your generosity was greatly appreciated and you will always be welcome at the Ohio State University. We hope you will visit us again very soon!
